SEPELKYYHKY The common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus)

Sepelkyyhky parilla, on vaikeuksia päättää mihin tehdä pesä meidän pihassa:-))

Tänä aamuna, kuului mahdoton kyyhkyn murina olohuoneen ikkunan takaa.

Toinen lintu istui viime vuonna tehdyssä pesässä (joka ei ollut käytössä). Toinen sepelkyyhky seisoi talon katolla.

Vaihtoehto kaksi on takatontilla oleva tuija, johon rakennetaan pesää.

Kolmas vaihtoehto on keitiön ikkunan takana oleva lehmus.

Lehmuksessa oli viime kesänä pesä ja poikanen. Puussa ei ole vielä lehtiä. Jännä nähdä mistä tuleva sepelkyyhkyjen pesä löytyy.

  1. There's a pair of Columba palumbus living in my garden.
They've eaten my kohlrabi seedlings, young radishes, and torn holes in my lettuce.
I don't like these birds. I'll be happy when they fly away from my garden.
    Greetings from spring Poland:)

    1. Hi Lucja-Maria! It's not nice when birds wreak havoc in the garden! We have jackdaws and magpies and thrushes wreak havoc in the vegetable garden. We have to protect some of the plants with nets.

  3. Hello Anne
A beautiful and robust pair of pigeons. What always delights me is that pigeons are often seen in pairs. They clearly value partnership and are faithful.
It's finally warm and green here, Spring is in full swing :)
    Best regards.

    1. It's great that the weather has already warmed up there. It's still cool here. The pigeons are fun. They're pretty fearless, they don't care even if we're in the yard.

  4. This is such a charming little moment of nature unfolding right in your yard, it almost feels like you’re watching them negotiate their options. I love how each possible nesting spot has its own history, especially the linden tree from last summer.
