KUUSI (Picea abies)

 

                                                Kuusissa on tänä vuonna paljon käpyjä.

    1. It doesn’t seem to accept this cone as food. (Nucifraga caryocatactes) has had (Pinus cembra) cones eating a little further from our residential area.

  2. I saw your photo and wondered if Crossbills are attracted to the cones, Anne, and had not considered Nutcracker mentioned in a previous comment. I find it very interesting that you get them close by, even if not in this Spruce tree species.

    1. Crossbills I haven't seen yet. We see a lot of them in winter. Spotted Nutcracker appeared two weeks ago at the cembrane pines as we drove the car. The bird was in such an awkward place that we couldn’t stop to take a picture.
