This bird is known as a Barnacle Goose in UK, Anne. We do see them sometimes, but those seen locally to me are usually ones that have escaped from captivity.
There are a lot of these birds here. They destroy fields and parks. Last year, a few farms were able to reduce them by shooting. But their meat was not to be used as food. They are not allowed to be shot this year. It's a great sight when huge flocks of Barnacle Goose migrate at the same time. Our residence is on the migration route of the birds.
