You probably know these by another name. (commonly known as mining bees) Ground bees are medium-sized bees that live alone (not in colonies) and dig their hives in the ground. In some of the species of the tribe, especially in the subfamily Panurginae, the venom stinger is so small that it is not effective for defense. Instead, they use their strong jaws to painfully bite the attacker.
