    1. Polyporaceae is an obsolete name for the fungus family Polyporaceae. They are fungi that often grow on the trunk of trees as parasites or decomposers. When growing on living wood, the fungus damages the wood by rotting it, while different species usually live on dead wood. That fungus has been destroyed by larvae and insects.
